Billy Graham's Prayer For Our Nation

Billy Graham's Prayer For Our Nation

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us , Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and Set us free. Amen!'
Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, 'The Rest of the Story,' and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired. With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called 'One nation under God.' If possible, please pass this prayer on to your friends. 'If you don't stand for something, you will fall for everything.'
NOTE: I reprinted this from Jaeson Ma's blog.

Stand with Beth Hislop

When I ministered at the Embracing God's Glory conference in Temple, Texas last March, the worship was led by Beth Hislop. She did a phenomenal job—her love for Jesus enabled all to focus solely on Him during worship. Honestly I don't think I would've been able to minister at such a high level of the anointing at the conference apart from the worship she led. Without question I came to a deeper appreciation for her ministry during that time—now I know firsthand the value of the heart that she possesses.

I want to stand with her in what the Lord has called her to pursue in this hour. Read on and prayerfully consider standing with her as she stands before God for our Nation.

Dear Friends,

This is an urgent request for prayer and emergency support. I have been asked by Matt Lockett, the director of Bound 4 Life, to come and serve at the Justice House of Prayer in Washington, DC. (http://www.jhop.org/) I believe this is a summon from the Lord for me.

I received a call from Matt last week. Since Lou Engle has asked all of the teams and interns from all of the JHOP’s to go to San Diego for 40 days of prayer and fasting leading up to The Call San Diego and the Elections, Matt is assembling a team to fuel the JHOP in DC. Because of the vital need for intercession to go up in DC leading up to the election, and for the continued presence at the Supreme Court, Matt asked me if I would be willing and available to be on the team for the Facedown 40 and come live in DC starting on September 18th. As the leadership of the Fredericksburg Prayer Furnace is releasing me and sending me, I will be joining the team as I feel God is calling me to lay aside that time to serve Lou, Matt, the cause for the ending of abortion and crying out for mercy during the next few months leading up to the elections in November. I believe this is a pivotal point in the History of our nation. I believe that the next 7-8 weeks will shape the course of our history.

I believe that God has summoned me to go, but financially I cannot do it without your help. I am sending this letter as a request for emergency support. God is my provider, and He has shown himself so faithful to me! I had several dreams last night of getting gifts and of prosperity financially, so I know He will provide. With that said, I really felt led to take this step of faith to ask you if you would prayerfully consider donating financially, a one time gift, to support me while I am at JHOP.

Many of you know I am in the process of raising support as I am now on full-time staff with the Fredericksburg Prayer Furnace. I will still continue my fundraising for the last months of this year and for next year with the official launch of the Prayer Furnace. However, I do not have the finances at this point to support myself enough to go to DC. Having looked at my finances and needs, I need to raise $800 by Sept. 15th in order to go to JHOP. I will also need another $800 by the end of my time in at JHOP in November. All donations are tax deductible. (http://www.theprayerfurnace.org)/

In 1999 Bob Jones spoke that the next president would come out of Texas and he would be a Burning Bush, and that IF the church would pray, in the second part of his second term he would do more to end abortion, restrain the homosexual agenda and to put prayer back in schools.” Then the word went on to say, “…if the church will pray, we will get eight more years of righteousness.” I believe the time is urgent to pray. We are already in a historical moment with these elections. As our nation decides who will be our next president, we must pray. Also, I ask for your prayers as I enter into this battle. Our team will be small. 12 people. But we will fight in intercession and worship for our nation and for our next president and for the ending of abortion.

Thank you so much for your prayers and consideration. I am so excited about what the Lord is doing and is going to do. I am excited to go fight, for our country and for our leaders, in intercession.

During the 40 days, as a team, we will be consistently sending out updates on what is going on and you will be able to watch video clips of the prayer room online. I will let you know how to access this information once it is set up. If you have a twitter account, we will be sending out updates on that as well.

If you could please consider responding within the next 5 days, And as always please keep me and the team in your prayers. Blessings to you!

I love you.

Great Quotes!

These quotes came in an email from the Revival Center.More GREAT QUOTES- www.Sermonindex.net

"God is not looking for brilliant men, is not depending upon eloquent men, is not shut up to the use of talented men in sending His gospel out in the world. God is looking for broken men who have judged themselves in the light of the cross of Christ. When He wants anything done, He takes up men who have come to the end of themselves, whose confidence is not in themselves, but in God."  ~H.A. Ironside

"Being broken is both God's work and ours. He brings His pressure to bear, but we have to make the choice...All day long the choice will be before us in a thousand ways."   ~Roy Hession.

"Let me learn by paradox that the way down is the way up, that to be low is to be high, that the broken heart is the healed heart, that the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit, that the repenting soul is the victorious soul, that to have nothing is to possess all, that to bear the cross is to wear the crown, that to give is to receive, that the valley is the place of vision."  ~Collection of Puritan Prayers and Devotions.

"When we become too glib in prayer we are most surely talking to ourselves."
- A. W. Tozer

"When filled with holy truth the mind rests."  ~C.H. Spurgeon

"We must frankly face the fact that there is in this teaching a revolutionary element which could be dangerously subversive of our existing ways of thought. Let us admit that it is part of the fallen human nature of ecclesiastics, no less than of others in responsible positions, to desire always criteria of judgement which can be used without making too heavy demands upon the delicate faculty of spiritual discernment, clear-cut rules by which we may hope to be saved from making mistakes -- or rather, from being obviously and personally responsible for the mistakes. We are uncomfortable without definite principles by which we may guide our steps. We fear uncharted country, and the fanatics of all kinds who, upon the alleged authority of the Holy Spirit, summon us with strident cries in all directions simultaneously. Only those who have never borne the heavy burden of pastoral responsibility will mock at the cautious spirit of the ecclesiastic."   ~Lesslie Newbigin

"Some people read their Bible in Hebrew, some in Greek; I like to read mine in the Holy Ghost."  ~Smith Wigglesworth

"I am convinced that many evangelicals are not truly and soundly converted. Among the evangelicals it is entirely possible to come into membership, to ooze in by osmosis, to leak through the cells of the church and never know what it means to be born of the Spirit and washed in the blood. A great deal that passes for the deeper life is nothing more or less than basic Christianity. There is nothing deeper about it, and it is where we should have been from the start...What we need is what the old Methodists called a sound conversion. There is a difference between conversion and a sound conversion. People who have never been soundly converted do not have the Spirit to enlighten them. When they read the Sermon on the Mount or the teaching passages of the epistles that tell themhow to live or the doctrinal passages that tell how they can live, they are unaffected. The Spirit who wrote them is not witnessing in their hearts because they have not been born of the Spirit. That often happens." - A W Tozer.

"No Task will be so sordid and base, provided you obey your calling in it, that it will not shine and be reckoned very precious in God's sight." - John Calvin

"With all your getting get unction." - Leonard Ravenhill

"When the Lord reveals His will to us and we obey, our mission will be a success regardless of the results." - Chinese housechurch leaders, Back to Jerusalem movement

"Those who are God's true witnesses are firmly anchored in Him, in love or in suffering, no matter what God may give or take away. They do not set much store by their own methods; if they prove helpful to their spiritual life, well and good. But God, in his loving foresight, often shatters their foundations and thus they frequently find themselves thwarted. If they want to keep vigil, they are obliged to sleep; if they like to fast, they are made to eat; if they would like to keep silence and be at rest, they have to do otherwise. In this way, everything they cleave to crumbles, and they are brought face-to-face with their bare nothingness. Thus they are shown how total is their dependence on God, and they learn to confess Him with a pure and simple faith, with no other support to sustain them."- Johannes Tauler.

"Worship renews the spirit as sleep renews the body."- Richard Clarke Cabot

"It is simply absurd to say you believe, or even want to believe, in Him, if you do not do anything He tells you." - George Macdonald

"The saintly Andrew Bonar used to soak his pillow with tears every Saturday night in Scotland as people below trampled the streets returning from the taverns and shows. He would cry from the depths of his agonizing heart, 'Oh! They perish, they perish!'" (doesn't list author)

My Polish Bride

Long ago I set up a blog for my wife with the intention of utilizing it to write out her testimony. I called it Aneta's Sacred Rendezvous: A Life Set Apart. I thought the title was appropriate for Aneta because my wife is indeed a worshiper! She is one who longs to present her heart to the Lord, and to Him alone.

Since meeting her over eight years ago I have heard her share her amazing testimony countless number of times—yet, I thoroughly enjoy hearing every second of it. It reminds me of God's goodness to us. And it causes me to pause and reflect upon the fact that I have the most amazing woman as my wife—that is a reality that I refuse to allow to slip the grasp of my appreciation and affections. So while my love is visiting her family in Poland along with our growing daughter, I have been writing out her testimony in her absence.

Although I have a lot of details missing, I have posted my first jab at this project. Here is the first draft of many more to come. You can check it out here:

Aneta's Testimony (Part 1)

Let me know what you think. Some of you may have known her from the "early" years of her walk with the Lord or during her time at CFNI...please feel free to provide any feedback so that I can improve Aneta's story—a story that I am ever grateful for.

A Great Quote...

What man actually needs is not a tensionless state but rather the striving and struggling for some goal worthy of him. What he needs is not the discharge of tension at any cost, but the call of a potential meaning waiting to be fulfilled by him.”

Gary Borgendale

Dear world wide believers in Christ:

Peace and joy from a fellow laborer in Minnesota, USA, Gary Borgendale.

Over a year ago, God impressed upon me the importance of prayer for the Republican National Convention. I did not understand what all this meant, but I initiated a call to prayer leaders and pastor leaders in St. Paul.

The 2008 Republican Convention will be here next week, running from September 1 – 4 at the Excel Center in St. Paul (www.gopconvention2008.com). For four days the world will be viewing St. Paul. The United States presidential conventions are second only to the Olympics for media coverage, surpassing even the NFL’s Super Bowl. Yes,the city chosen is St. Paul, named after the Apostle Paul, the great leader of the early church and whom God choose to minister to the Gentiles.

The GOP Prayer Team was formed consisting of prayer ministries leaders (Steve Loopstra, Sandra Roesner and Char Herzog) and pastors in St. Paul (Mike Smith, Bob Battle, and Cher Moua). The Prayer Team is not under the RNC, but believe it is our Christian responsibly to pray for major events held in our city.

We chose the following Bible verses to represent our efforts:

"I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth." 1 Timothy 2: 1-4

This is our mission of the GOP Prayer Team

We desire to honor God and exalt the name of Jesus Christ by praying and serving in a non-partisan way for all aspects of the 2008 Republican National Convention, for the welfare of our nation, peace, protection and positive economic impact of our communities and guidance and wisdom in the political process.

God has put His people in ALL the right places; from political leaders, facility leaders and security personnel. Estimates are that 45, 000 people will be here for the event, plus 10-50,000 protesters. I believe America is on the verges of judgment. God cannot continue to turn a blind eye to the nearly 50 million babies that have been aborted nor with the continued efforts to remove Christianity from the public square. We are in a greater spiritual battle than a political battle. We have been praying and fasting for the Democratic convention this week, praying for the lost and the safety and security of the city. God has impressed upon me the need for our spiritual brothers and sisters from around the world to pray for us in Minnesota - to stand in the gap. Will you do this for us?

We have been praying for 6 areas:

Police and Security
Media
McCain Campaign
Protesters
Delegates & alternates
Workers & volunteers

We have great expectations that 1000’s will be led to the Lord.

Please let me know if you would be willing to pray for us. Please forward this to other leaders around the world.

Thank you for your willingness to partner with us as we serve Christ.

God Bless

Gary Borgendale

Ministry Trip Update

Right now I am in Temple, Texas getting ready for our four hour drive to Sweetwater, Texas with Draper Smith to minister. My recent trip to Minnesota with Steve Burke was awesome! Once I return to Virginia, I will do a write up on both trips. The Lord did amazing things during this trip and I can't wait to share it all with you.

Please keep Draper and I in prayer as we minister together Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We are anticipating great things on this trip. The Lord wants to do a deep work in the hearts of those who come out for the meetings. I will be preaching throughout the weekend on "Finding the Silver Lining" which will help believers to understand why God permits storms in our lives; and I will be teaching on how to maximize what God desires to do within the storm instead of simply just hanging on for dear life!

I will try to update as time permits.

Ministry Trip to Texas & Minnesota

I'm about to embark upon a ministry trip to Texas and Minnesota. I will leave Friday night for Texas where I'll meet my good friend Steve Burke of The Lord Will Provide ministries. Steve is a passionate man-of-God who thrives living life on the edge! We don't really know what to expect on this trip, but I know that there have been things percolating within my heart to release prophetically over this state. This is a critical time for that region.

Then I fly back to Texas to minister at a revival in Sweetwater, Virginia from August 8-10. I will be ministering along with Draper Smith whom many of you know. Draper ministered there two months ago. At that time he mentioned to the pastors that he felt that something was about to breakthrough in their church—Draper encouraged the pastors to invite me to come and minister there. Evidently I had met Jason and Beverly Trupp when I ministered at the Encountering God's Glory conference back in March. I could vaguely recall what I had said to them, but I did receive an email several days ago from the pastor that was encouraging:

"I don't know if I ever told you what happened after you prophesied to us at the conference in Temple. You said it would be another two months in the wilderness. News we were not want to receive, I assure you. Two months later, nearly to the day the phone rang and we were chosen as the pastors of this church and hired at the school on the same day. God so easily swept open every door and ushered us into our destiny. It's not because you spoke a wonderful, happy, make-us-feel-good word that we want you to come, but because you spoke the truth accurately and boldly. We give God thanks always for you, Brian."

Praise God! What a blessing! Draper and I will be ministering Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Also we'll be ministering at the Sunday morning service.

The location is Cornerstone Fellowship Foursquare Church. Call the church for directions: 806-237-2991.

Please pray for me as the Lord leads. I'm expecting great things on this trip!

Brian Francis Hume

Quote by Oswald Chambers

“The people of God in Isaiah’s day had starved their imagination by looking on the face of idols, and Isaiah made them look up at the heavens (Isaiah 40:26), that is, he made them begin to use their imagination aright... IMAGINATION IS THE GREATEST GIFT GOD HAS GIVEN us and it ought to be devoted entirely to Him (Isaiah 26:3)... it will become one of the greatest assets to faith when the time of trial comes, because your faith and the Spirit of God will work together.” Oswald Chambers

New Releases That I Wouldn't Mind Reading

As many of you already know, my primary love language is awakened when I receive books as a gift! So when time permits I do enjoy browsing through a new release section online to see what new books are waiting to be discovered and devoured!

Anyways I decided to go to The Arsenal bookstore which is owned by my good friend, Brad Herman, to check out his new release section. Here is a list of books that I wouldn't mind getting my hands on!

Father Power: Generational Leadership by Don Wood

Don't read this book . . . live it. Close yourself away, capture time to feel the warmth of this story . . . as enduring as the universe, as comforting as our secret place . . . the loving embrace of a God who passionately loves you. Don Wood captures the textures, joys, and hurts real families are made of . . . and then shows us how to find out way into the extravagant love of a wonderful father, Almighty God. Don't just read this book, enjoy the journey for yourself . . . here is what life is all about. You've found a precious gem!
Paul Cole, President, Christian Men's Network

This book captures a desire within to excell as both a natural and a spiritual father to many. Also I am in the process of birthing THE CIRCUIT RIDERS along with a team of spiritual fathers to help fashion these emerging circuit riders. This just might be a book I need to send to these fathers.

Qualities of a Spiritual Warrior: The Way of the Warrior Series (Vol One) by Graham Cooke

Qualities of a Spiritual Warrior is the most inviting book on the subject I've ever seen. It is refreshing to read a book on warfare where the author is not impressed with the devil. Graham instead restores us to our rightful place of being captivated with Jesus. His wonderful understanding of the ways of the Kingdom does more than just bring clarity, it empowers the believer to live with victory as the normal expression of following Christ.
Bill Johnson, Bethel Church, Redding, CA

Sounds good to me!

Seven Mountain Prophecy: Unveiling the Coming Elijah Revolution by Johnny Enlow

Anyone interested in breaking through barriers to cultural transformation will want to read this book. Like a modern-day Lewis and Clark, Pastor Johnny Enlow has done an enormous service to us all in surveying the ground before us.
Lance Wallnau, Lance Learning Group

This book seems to have relevant information for the "cause & impact" paradigm that I've developed for personal and societal transformation.

Restoring the Altar for a Fresh Fire by Almu Beeftu

In a day when it is easy to be busy for God, Alemu Beeftu understands there is no easier place to lose Jesus than in the temple of religious activity and flurry. Far more than just a great book, Restoring the Altar is "an anchor within the veil" that calls us back to true covenant and passion for God. Restoring the Altar is a powerful manual that shows us how to keep the fires hot on the altar of our relationship with God. Restoring the Altar is written so that even a child could understand, though it is filled with the most profound principles of the Kingdom of God.
Don Crum, President Leadership International

Anything that stirs the fire within our hearts for the Lord Jesus Christ is definitely worthwhile our time and due diligence.

Restoring A Nation's Foundations: Prayer Strategies and Action Plans by Jimmy & Carol Owens

What the Owenses write about here holds the keys to God's mightiest of workings: how He can, wants to, and will change entire nations . . . if we will accept our role.
Jack Hayford, President, International Church of the Foursquare Gospel

For some reason I'm intrigued by the use of "action plans" in the subtitle of a Christian book. I'd like to examine this "action plan" to see if it truly has merit.

Birthing the Book Within You: Inspiration and Practical Help to Produce Your Own Book by Ben Peters

I've had a number of people prophesy to me that there is indeed a book within me. This also reminds me of the story of James Goll prophesying to Dutch Sheets back in the early 90s that there was a book in him that was to come forth...well, Intercessory Prayer was birthed and it has sold hundreds of thousands of copies in ten plus years.

5 Powers of God: Understanding, Receiving, Unleashing the Power and the Presence of the Holy Spirit by Paul Goulet

It seems from the content page that power is also referred to as strength. I have a teaching that I do frequently called The Inner Fortitude of Christlikeness, which is a reference to the strength of God, i.e., the might of God, that resides within us by the Holy Spirit. I believe this is one of my primary calling to walk as a man of strength and power in the Lord. The name Brian literally means "strength and honor" as depicted by the Roman warriors in the famous Gladiator movie.

There you go! A few choice books that I wouldn't mind hashing over as time permits! Please let me know if any of the aforementioned books struck you as you read the blog posting. Bless you!

For the Cause,

Brian Francis Hume
